As the leadership of ARISE,

We are a group of New England native youth leaders, college students, and working professionals.

We seek to love and serve the Korean church of New England as Jesus does.

Our current leadership consists of youth pastors serving the area and older second-generation men and women of God from the New-England area who are serving the Korean second-generation in the churches that we grew up in.

We pray in one heart that the Korean American second generation in the New England area will come to know Jesus and will live out a life transformed by the Gospel.

Board of Directors

  • Jane Chun

    Executive Director // jane@arisemin.org

Jane is a bi-vocational Youth and EM (EC) pastor in Greater Boston. Born and raised in NY, she was called to the New England area after God changed her life during college. After completing her bachelor’s degree at Binghamton University, she received her M.Div from Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary. Pastor Jane’s prayer is that everyone who comes in contact with ARISE would encounter the life-changing Jesus that set her free. Feel free to ask her about her Pastoral Study Project, “HANA”, or her other vocations in religious research and non-profit development. In her free time, she greatly enjoys jazz in vinyl form, interior design, rap, and basketball.

  • Tara Hong

    Director of Communications // tara@arisemin.org

ARISE was a formative part of Tara’s spiritual growth as a student. She accepted Christ as her savior at her first ARISE summer retreat in 2004. Since then, she has grown in love for the Lord and for the youth. As a young adult, Tara currently attends the church she grew up in. From taking care of kids to playing guitar on Praise Team, Tara now serves her church in any way she can. Tara graduated from Smith College School of Social Work with her MSW and has been working with children and families in the Greater Boston Area. Tara is a coffee addict, an accident magnet, and has more than one sweet tooth. Will bake for good (bad) puns.

  • Rachel Kim

    Director of Programs // rachel@arisemin.org

A New England native, Rachel came to know and accept Christ at a winter retreat in 8th grade. Since then, she has served in various ministries in the Greater Boston area. Upon joining the ARISE staff, she is excited to serve the area and prays that people will come to know God's love for New England. Rachel earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of New Hampshire (UNH), and is the Assistant Director of Undergraduate Programs for the business school at UNH. Outside of her role in ARISE, she currently co-leads the women’s ministry in her local church. In her free time, Rachel loves going to Target and enjoys a good pumpkin spice latte (yes, she knows she’s basic).

  • Monica Yim

    Director of Events // monica@arisemin.org

New England is Monica's home. After growing up in ARISE, Monica graduated from Syracuse University before learning to trust the faithfulness of God in her young adulthood. She joined ARISE with a burden to serve and make space for people to grow, both in their walks with God and God's people, well. After working on her second bachelors' degree in the Lawrence Memorial/Regis College accelerated program, Monica is now a Registered Nurse working in Greater Boston. This season, she hopes to trust in God's plan, even as hardships come. When she's not on the grind, she mainly sleeps and spend time with her friends-- she is willing to take suggestions for new hobbies.

  • Tim Yim

    Director of Media // tim@arisemin.org

Tim accepted Christ as his savior at ARISE's summer retreat in 2011 and has attended or served at many ARISE events and retreats in the past throughout his youth and young adulthood. After growing up in New England, Tim graduated Syracuse University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health & Exercise Science and an acute eye for design. Now, as Graphic Design/Media Coordinator, Tim’s hope for the youth of New England is to know Jesus and to be able to have a space to learn and grow within the Korean community/church. His prayer is that the kids who grow up in the Korean Church don't have to feel like they have to leave their home. He is an avid lover of sneakers, coffee, technology, and minimalism; he deeply appreciates art in any form.

Leadership Staff

  • Aaron Jung

    Development Manager // aaron@arisemin.org

Aaron, a New England native, has been attending church ever since he could walk (thanks to his grandmother!), but did not really know Jesus until he accepted Him as his Lord and savior at ARISE’s summer retreat in 2013. Throughout the last few years, Aaron served as a counselor at previous ARISE summer retreats—Now, he is honored to serve the ministry that catalyzed his faith. Aaron graduated from University of Massachusetts Amherst with a bachelor’s in Operations & Information Management, and is excited to put his education and skills to good use for both ARISE and God’s kingdom. Outside of his 9-to-5 corporate job, Aaron likes to spend his free time playing League of Legends with Austin or watching & analyzing movies (he is a film enthusiast and delights in good storytelling).

  • Grace Ahn

    Social Media/Public Relations Coordinator // grace@arisemin.org

Grace spent her earliest years at Hope Church before coming to her now-home church, where, after many years of solidifying community and faith through church and ARISE, she came to dearly love her spiritual home. Since graduating Lesley University with a degree in Counseling, Grace has followed God’s call of love back to her home church and serves the Media ministry and the Youth Ministry. Now, after a lifetime of wrestling and being in New England, Grace’s prayer for this region is that many of her greater community would find freedom in the truth that they are safe, protected, and loved in the Father’s embrace. You can always find her talking to strangers and adding hot sauce to meals; her hobbies are playing board games and creating art.

  • Austin Lee

    Stewardship Manager // austin@arisemin.org

Austin went through most of his life without knowing God until the end of youth group, when he received Christ as His Lord and cemented his faith through ARISE. Since then, Austin always had a heart for the New England Korean Church and is excited to use his gifts to give back to the community where God grew his faith and met him. Outside of ARISE, Austin currently works as an electrical apprentice. He loves the competitive League of legends (you can ask about his favorite team), food, basketball, and traveling.
