We are a group of youth leaders, college students, and working professionals that seek to love and serve the Korean church of New England as Jesus does.

We are a ministry of both youth pastors serving the area and older second-generation men and women of God from the New-England area who are serving the Korean second-generation youth in the churches that we grew up in. We pray in one heart that the Korean American youth in the New England area will come to know Jesus and will live out a life transformed by the Gospel.

Amy Jeong

Amy is a Computer Science major at Northeastern University. After coming into the States at 11, she grew up attending North Boston Korean United Methodist Church and ARISE as a student. Upon returning to Mount Holyoke College in 2017, she was called to serve as staff on ARISE, and after serving for a few years, she has become the director of the ministry. She currently attends NBKUMC and serves the youth there as well, in hopes that students would come to know God and His love for them. In her free time, she enjoys walking around Boston and discovering new music!

Jane Chun 전도사님

Korean Church Liaison/ Worship Coordinator

Jane is the youth pastor of North Boston Korean United Methodist Church in Andover, MA and a M.Div candidate at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Born and raised in NY, she was called to the New England area after God changed her life during college. Although you may have seen her serve in ARISE before, this is her first year on staff officially, and in joining, her prayer is that everyone who comes in contact with ARISE would encounter the life-changing Jesus that set her free. In her free time, she strives to be the most hip youth pastor of New England (lol) and is really into coffee, books, aesthetically pleasing lights, and rap music.

John is the youth pastor of Saint John’s Korean United Methodist Church in Lexington, MA and a Master of Divinity student at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He grew up in the orange groves and cattle ranches of Wauchula, Florida and moved to New England in 2017. After a year of searching for a church to attend and serve at, John felt the call to serve the Korean Church in New England and began to serve at St. John’s KUMC. He then joined ARISE Staff in January of 2019. In his free time, John enjoys playing guitar, listening to John Mayer, and hanging out in Boston. His prayer is that all students would know Jesus and know who they are in Jesus.

After completing her MSW at Smith College School of Social Work, she has been working in the Greater Boston Area with children and families as an in home therapist. Susie Choi

Events Logistics Coordinator

Born and raised in the States, Susie has been East Coast bound. From a family of five, she grew up within the Korean church and witnessed the faith of her parents throughout adolescence. She came to know and accept Christ early on and was first linked up to ARISE in 2011, when she attended as a high school student. In joining the youth group at GUMC (NH), she continued to attend ARISE events and cultivated a deep love for serving the church since. After momentarily being in Boston, Susie has been serving as a staff member of ARISE leadership (c.2018) and has been serving GUMCYG (c.2016). God is always first in her heart but right thereafter comes R&B and Neo-Soul.
