Summer Retreat

ARISE first began as a ministry in 1994 with a joint summer retreat organized by a few college students who were serving the youth in Korean churches. Since then, every year, we host a summer retreat for the youth from Korean churches in New England to intentionally spend time with God, with peers, older brothers, and sisters in Christ from the area. Our goal is to be transformed by the gospel and grow in our identity in Christ for His glory. Come join us by registering or serving to be a part of all that God is doing this summer in the Korean churches of New England!

Early registration by 7/14 : $175 | Regular registration by 7/28 : $200 | Walk-in on 8/11 : $250

Online registration is no longer available.
If you’re coming to the retreat as a walk-in, please e-mail info@ariseyouth.org

Summer Retreat 2019: “RISEN”

  • Theme: “RISEN”

  • Verses: Ephesians 2:4-6

    • But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus…”

  • Date: August 11-14 2019 (Sunday - Wednesday)

  • Location: Rumney / White Mountain Retreat Center, NH

The monarch butterfly’s life cycle signifies transformation, similar to the transformation of our identities through Christ. Ephesians 2:4-6 emphasizes this transformation. The open cocoon acknowledges our old identities as sinners that are “dead in our trespasses” while also showing the hope of transformation in our new identities as “raised up and seated with him in the heavenly places” through God’s great love, mercy, and grace.

Pastor Sam Choi

Pastor Sam Choi has lived in 4 different states and 12 different cities/towns in his short life, but he considers NJ his spiritual home and the Northeast Corridor as his mission field. He is the co-founder and vision pastor for Worship as 1 Ministries and also serves as an assistant pastor at Riverside Community Church. Grown in an urban culture, he has been in ministry for over 20 years, and specifically has a heart for revival, worship/prayer, and those hurt by the Church. He has a M.Div from Biblical Seminary and is ordained under The Evangelical Church Alliance. He is married to his beautiful wife, Minji, and they have a 1 year old baby boy, Elijah. Pastor Sam enjoys sports (football, basketball), reading, working on cars, and fixing broken things.  One of his favorite hobbies is playing board/card games. Some weird facts about him are: one, he’s not a coffee drinker or caffeine addict; two, he was this build and height since the 8th grade; three, he’s a morning person AND night owl; and four, he’s a fast food expert.
