New Beginnings!

Group Prayer, Praise Night

Hello everyone!

This is our first newsletter to you all— we hope this finds you well as you look around on our brand-new site for the first time.

It’s been a busy season for ARISE! As of 2019, God has given us a new vision for the ministry. This has been both exciting and a little terrifying as we step out in faith into what God is doing in New England. God is calling us to love the Korean church of New England by partnering with the first generation to serve the youth, and he has given us a vision and hope that through partnering with the church, we will see students transformed by the gospel and see the next generation sustain faith as men and women of God that have been or are part of the Korean Church. God is definitely moving in the Korean Churches of New England, and we are excited to be a part of what he’s doing!

New Leadership

As of 2018, ARISE has been under the leadership of Director Amy Jeong. Also serving alongside Amy are Tara Hong (Communications Coordinator), Susie Choi (Events Logistics Coordinator), Jane Chun (Korean Church Liaison, Worship Coordinator) and John Miller (Youth Pastor Liaison). You can read more about us in the who are we section of our website!

Praise Night and Basketball Tournament

In March we had our first Praise Night of the year! To see 70-80 students worshipping Jesus alongside youth pastors, youth workers, and parents was incredible. Pastor Michael Ku preached a challenging message about being missional in our communities and not wasting the gift of the gospel that Jesus has given us.

Following Praise Night was our 3-on-3 basketball tournament. Churches from across New England gathered together for a fun morning of fellowship and friendly competition. It was really cool to see all of the students and youth workers from different churches interacting with one-another. Unity is so important to Jesus, and to gather together as one church in both praise, worship, and fellowship brings him glory.

New Website, New Direction, and Prayer Requests

As of today, our site is up, and we are officially starting to kick our preparation for retreat in drive. In our time of transition, would you pray with us?

Here are some prayer requests we have moving forward:

Summer Retreat

Summer retreat is right around the corner! Please, be in prayer for the students who will attend the retreat. Please pray for them, that God will begin now softening their hearts and preparing them for what he has in store for them this summer.

We are also looking for counselors who will disciple, mentor, and pour into the students for a week, helping them to process all that God is doing in their lives. Would you pray that God will begin working in the hearts of those who he’ll call to serve in this role this summer?

Staff

Please pray that God gives us wisdom and discernment as we move forward with this new vision and mission. All of us either work full-time, are full-time students, and are pastors. Pray that God will give us his strength to press on and serve this ministry and this area faithfully.

We’re excited to take you along with us in this new season for a ministry that has been faithfully serving the area for 25 years. As always, thank you for your support in prayer and presence. We look forward to meeting you soon in the next newsletter!

In Him,

ARISE Youth
