The retreat is built around a small group discipleship model where gender and grade-specific groups with their leaders do just about everything together. We come to know ourselves and God better within intimate and trusting relationships. For this purpose, counselors (small group leaders) go through 2 weeks of training and prayer together to prepare to serve their groups in this way.
Morning Sessions are split by gender to allow boys to be taught by older men and girls by older women about issues and in ways more sensitive to and relevant for each group. There's something special about these set-aside times that God uses for greater depth, honestly and impact. There is a different guest speaker for each of these morning sessions—3 for the boys and 3 for the girls. The theme for these sessions is: "What I wish my dad/mom taught me about being a godly man/woman."
Small Group times are the space for real processing, questioning, internalizing and prayer. They are intentional touch points and discussion times with a small group that gets to know each other intimately and with a leader who cares, listens and shares their life, too.
Seminars are teaching/workshop sessions that the students can choose topically. They are often interactive and focus on aspects of living and growing as Christians.
ARISE Quest is a special team-building, heart-pumping, mind-bending, fun challenge! =)
Evening Worship times are comprised of worship through music, preaching of the Word and a time of prayer and response. The same keynote speaker preaches at all the evening and closing worship sessions. Parents, pastors and youth workers are encouraged to join us any time for evening worship.
Counselors schedule to meet one-on-one with each student in their group at some point during the retreat. These are important opportunities for deep sharing and administering of the gospel. Each student is individually noticed, cared for, listened to and prayed with.
