∴ raising generations of youth transformed by the gospel and living for God's glory

FIRM FOUNDATION PURPOSE

Asian and mostly children of immigrants living in middle to upper-middle class suburbia, being Korean-American youth in New England means several things:

  • Your parents love you so they work really hard.
  • They’ve sacrificed a ton so that you can be successful and financially secure.
  • School, school, school, grades, grades, grades.
  • Extracurricular activity, extracurricular activity, extracurricular activity so that you can get into …
  • Great college, great college, great college. (Which is really more school, school, school, and grades, grades, grades.)
  • Doctor, dentist, pharmacist, lawyer, engineer, business person are 6 of the 6 most known and accepted professions by your parents.

Then what?!  And what for?!

Korean-American youth have little or no encouragement at home, in school, or church to hear God’s invitation and live into His particular, purposeful, redemptive vision for their lives.  They have just one God-given life to live!  Yet, they are given little direction or example in how to live it spending their educations, energies, talents and affinities in ways that honor God and actively, passionately take part in His redemptive purpose in the world.

Firm Foundation is a gathering through which we hope the youth catch a glimpse of God’s profound purpose for creating them uniquely as they are, redeeming them from their sins to life abundant and equipping them with education and opportunities.

Through receiving God’s word, His call and encouragement and through interacting with flesh and blood older brother and sisters who are already living for the Lord, we hope that the youth would start to respond to the holy challenge—to live for His glory now and in the future in every sector of vocation.

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing;

it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works,

which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

Ephesians 2:8-10
