Gloria was born in Korea, grew up in the Philippines, and finally stopped moving when she came to Boston, so she can finally call it her home! She is a pastor's kid and has always had to serve in the church. But God changed her heart slowly as she started attending ARISE Summer Retreat (the first one the summer after high school) and gave me a heart to serve the youth in New England. Seeing God's perfect hand lead her through life (switching majors and figuring out what to do), Gloria came to trust in God and His sovereignty. She is continuing to grow in her walk with God and is continually humbled at His awesome love for all of us. Thanks to ARISE, she has found her soul-friends with whom to share life, struggles and walks with God, and would love to see the youth in NE love the church and find life-long friends through ARISE as well! She is currently serving at her father's church as a youth group teacher and is excited for ministry because can see God work and join Him in building His kingdom here in Boston! Gloria attended Mt. Holyoke College and received her M.A. in Education from Harvard. She is currently pursuing her M.A. in Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Suzy has served in youth ministry in the local church and through ARISE since 2006. Her desire has been for the Korean-American youth to be exposed to and transformed by the Gospel. Serving in ARISE has reinforced that desire for the youth of New England, as well as strengthen her own faith and walk with the Lord. Her vision is for the Korean-American youth of today become the men and women of God tomorrow as she views them as the future generation of God's workers. Although born in New York, she spent most of her life growing up in Connecticut. She graduated from the University of Connecticut and received her Master of Science in Nursing at Boston College. She is currently a Nurse Practitioner in Lowell, MA. Suzy is a member of Citylife Presbyterian Church in Boston and lives with our official ARISE dog (but actually her dog), Moses, in Burlington, MA. She enjoys walks with her dog, snowboarding, spending time with friends with food, and has a fascination with whales and dolphins, some of God's amazing creations.
Throughout his life, God has shaped a great passion in his heart to love and serve the youth of this generation. He desires to be a faithful and humble servant through whom God can use to communicate the Gospel and model a life transformed by such Good News. The Lord has graciously given Eric a heart for the youth of New England through his years on staff with ARISE Youth Ministries. Through this ministry, he has learned about the tremendous need for youth workers in the Korean-American churches. Despite the many challenges, he believes wholeheartedly that God will continue to faithfully establish His kingdom in this area and beyond. Eric now serves with ARISE as a dedicated youth speaker and youth worker trainer. Eric received his M.Div. from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. He was born in Queens, NY, but he spent most of his youth years in what many consider to be the best state in America, New Jersey. He then returned to Queens, NY, to receive a Childhood Education degree from St. John’s University.
Nicole Rim has been contributing her design work for ARISE since 2006. She is currently a graphic designer at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary while pursuing a Master of Arts in Religion in Christian Education. She also serves on staff at Living Fields, a church in Lynn, MA that seeks to reach the Cambodian community for Christ. "We have sent our youth to ARISE's Summer Retreats for years, and they have always returned feeling very encouraged by their counselors, the speakers, as well as being refreshed to have been in a Christian environment (which is rare for them considering their non-Christian, Buddhist backgrounds). We are truly thankful for ARISE's heart to extend their care and resources to the Cambodian youth in Lynn!" Nicole studied Graphic Design and Art History at the Rhode Island School of Design and is originally from Barrington, IL.
Jason is currently in school attending MCPHS University. He is born and raised in Massachusetts, but attended a Korean church in Nashua, New Hampshire. He has grown up in the church, but really first met God during one of his first ARISE retreats. Since then, he has grown to love serving the youth and has been a part of ARISE ever since, both as a student and as a counselor. Jason is also serving and is a member at Symphony church in Boston. He loves to serve the youth and the church, but also enjoys things like coffee, soccer, basketball, and video games. He loves competitive things.. maybe a little too much sometimes…
